Phyllis and Sally master the art of mobile photography. Now that you’re caught up on the rest of last night’s festivities, I’ll give you the happs on this morning’s activities. We scheduled a brand new and super cool workshop this year: Mobile Photography with the talented and sweet Kia Powell. Nakia Powell is a freelance photographer specializing in doll photography. She studied photography under her Museum Studies major at Duke Ellington School of the Arts and briefly continued into fashion design at Moore College of Art and Design where she continued to build upon her artistic talents.

Nakia vincent van gogh starry night tattooed doll is a self-published author of two photo books and has been featured as a photo of the week artist on Tonner’s Facebook page several times, so those of you who engage in our Tonner Social Media probably already know Kia and her fabby work.
Kia really knows her stuff! She gave us a brief over view of photography in general, some mobile cameras, their icons and what they mean, crafting and editing the photo, the photos storage capacity, and finally, how to turn your photo into art pieces.  She also shared with us some tools that she uses to get her shot, like this photo box and backdrop below:

It was so much fun to shoot around with a doll and our phone and learn about filters and cool techniques. Each attendee also got a cliff notes to take home so that they could reference all the cool tricks they learned!
