Celebrity Sighting
One of the funnest activities when in Old Hollywood (a place in time that one can visit often thanks to Gene Marshall and her Monolithic Studios friends) is to spot movie stars as they go about doing what they do in their glamorous fantasy lives.
On a sunny day back in the days when class and style reigned supreme, Mel Odom’s Miss Gene Marshall (Phoenix model produced by JAMIEshow vincent van gogh sunflowers tattooed doll ) was spotted at the Museum of Fashion Arts and Sciences suited in a Christian Dior design, circa 1951. The suit was first modeled by Gene pal, Ivy Jordan in her Moss Rose incarnation produced by Integrity Toys. With a chinois hat by Liz Cole for Retros , earrings by Nicole Kartio, and a Barbie Fashion Model Collection diamond pin, Miss M gave it a fresh interpretation. So much, that many of the other attendees could not help but admire her fashion sense from behind their very dark sunglasses.

Agnes also sports a fashionably tall straw hat, sunglasses and an oversized purse. The outfit completely transforms by changing into a long mermaid skirt, revealing a bustier top. Two pairs of shoes, jewelry and doll stand also included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.
Another Agnes as an event doll – she is after all designated as a character that is available only at events. The gift set offers a great opportunity to mix and match, and also fits with most of the other Safari collection pieces, so endless possibilities there. The price is mad hatter handmade doll the same as for a regular doll so it’s value for money too. The doll looks good, although I had to look at the close up photo to make up my mind about getting her. The lipstick looks as if it is not following her trademark frown. It does not look bad but it is not a classic Agnes expression. Again, this is only a prototype doll. And, yes, hoop earrings again. Meh.

Ta- Da- Ta Da. It’s Time For A Superdoll Wedding

Superdoll Wedding DC Dolls

2 OOAKs and a SALON Outfit, Oh My!

This afternoon was a rather exciting, if nail-biting time, for Superdoll fans  as they awaited the availability of a SALON exclusive outfit on the Supersite following an email announcement sent earlier in the day. The Superboys wished to celebrate love, in all its guises, on the eve of Pride weekend in London with the sale of 2 OOAK bride dolls and 10 bridal outfits. The OOAK dolls were shown on the Superdoll Facebook page and I suspect have already made their way to their lucky new owner(s).
However the stated time of 4pm came and went, along with much browser refreshing, but nothing to be seen. As per wedding tradition, a Facebook post announced that the bride was running somewhat late. When the outfit, Ta- Da- Ta Da, did finally appear, an hour later, it sold out in less than 2 minutes. The edition size was 10.
Here is the blurb I managed to grab from the site:
“Venus did not have a clue, she was just told to be in London TODAY!

Little did she know her sisters were about to grey whale illustrated vintage doll tie the knot…. and she was to do the frocks publicity shots. The brides were fashionably late for starters….The gown is a short contemporary little froth, beaded and embroidered with astro halogram sequin payette, clear bugles, frosted bugles, silver sequins and little white molded sequin flowers.
A HUGE semi circular headpiece, just dramatique enough, and a gorgeous silk tulle veil. This corseted gown is accessorised with delightful white tulle panties, white garter belt and milky white fishnet hose that attach to the garter with little daisies.
No bride would be complete without a bouquet, and this random array of gorgeous bugle bead ferns, ribbons and diamante stud satin roses, is finished off with pearl sprays.
Heel_less platform shoes trimmed to within an inch of themselves!
OUTFIT ONLY MADE IN LONDON, ENGLAND”
The outfit retailed for £448.00
And here are the OOAK Brides in the DC face sculpt

Breaking Bad

The fun of a redress. Dolldom and bona fide dollectors live for the thrill of sailor nautical tattooed doll seeing a beloved doll transform.
Benefiting from the rich offerings in the market, Dolldom mixes and matches lines and dolls and comes up with a what-if-fantasy. What if instead of Marylin, Miss Gene Marshall had starred in the film classic Niagara ?
Our wardrobe department spotted Tonner Doll’s “The Problem with Rose” fashion and immediately acquired it. To go against the expected type, Mel Odom’s White Orchid Gene , produced by Jamieshow ,  plays the title role of Rose Loomis. And Miss Marshall is 100% bad girl in a brown bob by Ilaria Mazzoni for Time of Doll .  Boom! The screen explodes. Gene is a smoldering presence. And with a beauty mark to boot! “Neat As A Pin” Trent Osborn was captivated enough to miss his lines more than once. Who can blame him!

Integrity Toys New Collections 2014: Fashion Royalty Goes Safari

Head Sculpt: Natalia Fatalé 2.0
Quick Switch Feature: No

Hair Color: Serengeti Blond
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied
Natalia Fatalé’s look is composed of a short sleeveless safari vest over a 3/4 sleeve power-mesh top and short pleated skirt. Natalia sports a large brimmed hat and accessorizes her look with a faux-snake skin purse and a set of gold jewelry and sunglasses. Natalia Fatalé is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with Serengeti Blond hair and hand-applied eyelashes. Doll stand included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.
We have seen this hair style on Natalia several times. Looks like the designers do not know what more to do with her hair, which is a same – Latina girls are very particular about their style and hair is very important! Come on people, make Natalia less boring – she’s the bad guy of the story, have some fun with her. Even a side part here would have looked so much better. The outfit is nice but not amazing, the belt is wrong for the style (big buckled wide croco/snake style would have worked so much better).
Poor Natalia, you wanted so much to be this:

Elise Jolie is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with black hair and hand-applied eyelashes. A doll stand is included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.
Gorgeous Elise – although I would have liked her in blonde. We have had two raven haired Elise dolls in the convention and a red-head from Montaigne Market, so a blonde/platinum haired one would have been amazing. Her make up does remind me of her French incarnation (which is good), minus the gold glitter. Lovely dress, with good draping on the hips. The neckline draping looks uneven on the prototype but I hope it will be corrected on the production dolls. Her accessories are fantastic and fit the look perfectly. She’s a keeper.

Faded Desert Kyori Sato™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately August/September 2014
Suggested Retail Price: $135.00
Hair Color: Dusk Brunette

Kyori Sato wears a look composed of a sleeveless safari jacket over a jacquard woven skirt. Kyori Sato is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with brunette hair and hand-applied eyelashes. A doll stand is included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.
What a beautiful version of Kyori. Her eye-shadow does look a little pronounced but it fits the look and usually in person it is more subdued. Love the outfit, the colouring, the accessories. Her bag is an exact replica of the Jordan bag from Jason Wu, in a colour not available for real people. Sleeveless jackets like this were in Jason’s real collection too. Pet peeve – hoop earrings again?

Full Spectrum Véronique Perrin™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately August/September 2014
Suggested Retail Price: $135.00
Hair Color: Brunette
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied
Véronique is dressed in a form fitting red hot cocktail dress, elegantly accessorized with earrings, some bracelets, a ring and matching shoes. It also has a slim leather belt. Véronique Perrin is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with brownette hair and hand-applied eyelashes. Doll stand included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.
This is one of the most beautiful Veros I have seen, but also the most plain. The dress has a great cut and colour but the accessories are minimal and most of them we have seen before. It does not justify the price the way the other dolls of the collection do. She reminds me a lot of one of the dolls in the first Monogram collection , Incandescent.
Item # 91348
Vivid Encounter Adèle Makéda™ Dressed Doll
The Fashion Royalty® Collection
Estimated Ship Date: Approximately August/September 2014
Suggested Retail Price: $135.00
Hair Color: Raven
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand Applied
Adèle Makéda is wearing an olive green gown, which is accessorized by a newly designed necklace and bracelet, as well as a coordinated gold clutch. Adèle Makéda is a 12.5-inch fully articulated vinyl doll with raven hair and hand-applied eyelashes. A doll stand is included. For adult collectors ages 15 and up.
She looks a lot like the convention Adèle but with different colour eye shadow. The dress is a bit of a mess, the skirt draping not as distinct or as tailored as it should have been. I love the shoes. Was expecting more of an African princess though. Imagine Elise’s dress in this olive green – would have been fabulous.

The Swimsuit Illustrated
The Swimsuit Issue. Why should there be an issue about a swimsuit? Miss Barbie Millicent Roberts turns fifty-five years old and poses in a mad hatter art doll revamped version of her iconic 1959 look and the world goes bananas.
Dolldom reminds that the Barbie® doll has had a love affair with swimsuits ever since her inception. Meant to be a basic doll to be redressed, the teen-age fashion model was offered in a chic zebra striped black and white one piece so that children could ask for mini couture for her to wear. Of course, many of us believe that in her swimwear, Babs is nothing short of perfection.
To prove the point and to celebrate Miss Roberts’ long due inclusion in the much-hyped Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Dolldom presents an exclusive portfolio of her very best beach and pool wear.
null

Splash!
And then there was Barbie! The original 1959 model goes sunbathing in her très faux zebra skin strapless number with some of her Hong Kong clone friends.
A Number Three Barbie doll is ready for a swim in her Dreamhouse’s pool.
An advantage of being a model is having garments fitted to your exact measurements.
Dolldom commends the Japanese seamstresses who made each one of the zebra stripes meet at the center seam. Bravissime!
In 1964, a Swirl Ponytail Barbie modeled a red Helenca swimsuit. Very athletic!
In 1963, Fashion Queen Barbie demolished all glamour standards in her Egyptian gold wonder and a year later, Miss Barbie came along in a coquettish cotton candy and gold sparkle number.
And in 1965, The Barbie Look was defined by a gayly striped blouson model.
Barbie is to swimsuits what gin is to tonic. Here’s to Barbie Style.
